Payment is to be made at the time of recording.

Checks should be made payable to Strafford County Registry of Deeds

***Checks for $500 or greater are to be certified or from a trust account.***

Appropriate return postage required on all recordings or a self-addressed stamped envelope must be included for documents being returned by mail.

SURCHARGE ON DOCUMENTS :
$25 State LCHIP surcharge fee in a separate check due on each deed, mortgage, mortgage discharge, and plan set recorded under RSA 478:17g, I-a(a), Effective July 1, 2008.
(Refer to the Statute for exemptions.)

$2 Surcharge is imposed on all documents including plans pursuant to NH RSA 478:17-j and should be included with recording fees.

ALL DOCUMENTS EXCEPT DISCHARGES, UCC FILINGS, MORTGAGE ASSIGNMENTS AND CERTAIN LIENS:
10 for the first page of document

ASSIGNMENTS OF MORTGAGES:

ASSIGNMENT OF MORTGAGE AND/OR PARTIAL RELEASES:
$10.00 For the first page. ** $10.00 per additional document being assigned or partially released. $4.00 For each page thereafter.
$2.00 Surcharge fee.

** If the assignment is a blanket assignment with multiple parties listed, there is an additional charge of $5.00 for each subsequent mortgage being assigned.

Ex: ($10.00 for a partial release of mortgage, $10.00 for a partial release of assignment of leases & rents on the same document plus the surcharge, for a total of $22.00)

DISCHARGES AND RELEASES:
$15.00 For the discharge of a mortgage, assignment of leases and rents, release of attachments, release of assignment of plans & rights. **
$4.00 For each additional page thereafter
$2 Surcharge fee.
$25.00 LCHIP fee for discharge of mortgages ONLY.

** For a discharge that lists multiple documents to be released, there is a $15.00 fee for each additional book and page shown to be released. There is only a one time surcharge fee for the document that these are listed. Ex. ($15.00 + $15.00 + $2.00 = $32.00 for a discharge releasing a mortgage, and assignment of rents and leases.)

A. 8 ½ x 11 = $9
B. 11 X 17 = $11.50
C. 17 X 22 = $14
D. 22 X 34 = $24
E. 24 X 36 = $26.50

Plans must be on reproducible material and drawn with permanent black ink and conform to the plat standards if drawn after January 1, 2005.

TRANSFER TAX:
A tax of $15 per thousand is imposed upon the sale, granting or transfer of real estate and any interest therein except where the price or consideration is $4,000 or less, there shall be a minimum tax of $40. An exemption from the transfer tax must be clearly stated on the deed being recorded. See also Transfer Tax Rates.
